Yesterday Barry attended a street stall in Derby City Centre with People’s Vote campaigners followed by a stall with local Lib Dem Group Leader Cllr Ruth Skelton calling for a public vote on the final brexit deal.
Barry commented:
“The Lib Dems believe you should have the final say on the brexit deal. The Conservatives are making a mess of brexit and the Labour leadership continues to support them in doing it.
“You should be able to choose whether the deal is right for Britain’s future and if it’s not you should have the right to demand an exit from brexit and remain in the EU.
“I’ve spoken to many shoppers and residents of Derby here in the city centre and the vast majority think brexit is going badly, they think that Prime Minister May is going to make them poorer and they are upset that the Corbyn is letting her. They agree with me that we, the British public not politicians in Westminster, should make the final decision with the full facts of what it means for us.
“Many people who voted to leave in 2016 have told me they feel lied to by the leave campaign, that the problems we all face in Britain are not because of Brussels like they were told but are actually because of Westminster, many want to change their mind now they know more about how brexit will affect them and our country, now they now that lies were plastered on buses and the major trouble makers have fled the scene to dodge the consequences.”
